Jon: I want to get to the germination of the idea for Lawtrades. What was the big
problem that you were setting up to solve?
Raad: I had the idea while I was in law school. I was graduating into one of the
worst job markets in the legal industry history at the time. I wanted to get more
lawyers jobs online, and instead of doing it the traditional way of going and
working at a law firm for ten years, I wanted there to be a platform where they
can do it in a more entrepreneurial way.
They can sign up for a website, create a profile, get access to flexible work on
the internet, get paid for practicing law, do it from wherever they wanted,
and set their own hours and rates.
Something like that didn’t exist. It started off with the intention of helping a
bunch of independent lawyers earn an income online and then eventually we
iterated it to include more businesses that would be able to hire them and build
it out to the marketplace it is today.
